As I may have mentioned, I’ve just begun writing (again if you count just a few very early attempts) in the past few months. It’s awesome! I love it! I want to do more of it! And now I’ve just REWRITTEN my first song. I don’t mean my “first” song, I mean it’s my first rewrite of a song. Not my first edit – my first music rewrite.
In this particular case I had written some pretty darned good lyrics (in my opinion), and set them to the only tune I had in my head for that lyric poem at the time. I set it aside, then, and went on to look at other songs – other lyrics, other subject matter, if you will.
The other day I was looking at it again. I knew I was just a bit dissatisfied with the music to the song, so I up and decided to play around with it. I grabbed my guitar and started playing a different chord progression when suddenly – – – something clicked. And now, I just couldn’t be happier with the end result.
So, I guess I’m done with it now. I’m even excited to give it a public outing somewhere to see if others agree with my own personal assessment of the song. I hope folks like it.
