I managed to finish up on my second “guerilla style” recording – It’s Time To Go. This is another country song – an old school country ballad.
I think it’s very pretty. I hope you do, too. But my biggest problem with it right now – performancewise – is memorizing the lyrics. Yes, I wrote them! But all you singers out there will understand, I hope, that some songs are just more difficult to commit to memory than others. This song has very few phrases that repeat EXACTLY the same. Similar but not exactly the same. Which makes this song pretty cool because the story of the song doesn’t just stop. It keeps developing in every verse AND every refrain. Thus, while I do have all the words in my head, I still have the fear that the right words will be coming out at the wrong time. Ha!
Anyway, it’s the second selection in my MySpace player. Check it out.
BTW, I am interested in what other people have to say about the songs. If you take a listen and want to comment here, please feel free. For instance, a songwriter friend of mine thinks they’re more folk than country. I just thought that was because it’s just a guitar and me in the recordings.
